Interpreter Training

All interpreters used by the center are evaluated in their ability to read and write English prior to acceptance into the program. All interpreters attend an initial four-hour training in mental health Interpreting and a monthly 2-hour training session. Additionally, all interpreters are required to sign an Interpreters Ethics Code.
No children or other family members are accepted to interpret for clients. We believe in high standards for treatment. Accurate and objective interpretation is crucial to good treatment. Education about confidentiality is also an integral part of this training.
