Direct Care

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is the primary treatment method at this center. Most clients also require the use of a trained interpreter (see below). Individual therapy begins after the information/history gathering intake phase. Individual therapy is provided under an integrated, compassionate, and culturally responsive paradigm.
Treatment is focused on client need in relation to the goal of the center which is treatment to torture victims. Rapport building, stress management, detailed history gathering, relaxation, debriefing and client-centered therapy are all integrated to help the client in dealing with issues at a responsive pace.
Non-traditional interventions as well as more traditional therapies such as; cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, psycho- education, EMDR and others are integrated as the client moves into a more stable phase of the therapeutic relationship.
