Spirit of Survival- Poetry Contest to benefit FIRST Project

 $10.00 entry fee/donation per poem. Grand Prize: Publication and $250.00 Wal-Mart gift card donated by Wal-Mart South, Lincoln, NE. Publication will take place after the October 24th event.

Rules:  All decisions are final.  Winner will receive one free event ticket to the F.I.R.S.T. Project event where the winning poem will be read.  The event is a fundraising breakfast to be held October 24th, 2006, at Country Inn and Suites (more details to follow). 

Judging will be blind and based on relevance to theme and aesthetic appeal.

Entry fee(s) are non-refundable.  All proceeds to F.I.R.S.T. Project, Lincoln. NE.   Keep your original.  Copies will not be returned.  

You may enter as many times as you like.  Each entry must include an entry fee and entry form. 

All entries must be typed on light colored paper.  You may mail or deliver your entries to:

Payment may be check or cash.  Do not mail cash.  Attach 2 copies of your poem to the entry form.  You may submit your poem in any language; however, you must include two copies translated to English. 

F.I.R.S.T. Project, poetry judges, staff, board members, volunteers are not responsible for lost or illegible entries.  Please do not call F.I.R.S.T. Project to inquire about your poem.  Your entry will be acknowledged by phone or email.

Submission Deadline:  August 29th, 2006. 

Automatic Disqualification:

  • Graphic language/violent or sexual content.
  • Missing entry fee or identifying information.
  • Your poem must be your original material and cannot have been previously published in any media.

The winning entries will be featured on our web site after the event date on October  24th, 2006.
